This song, written by Lee Greenwood in the early 80's, had a rebirth of popularity after the 9/11 attacks. Once again it is in this headlines, but this time it is over controversy.
Greenwood's song was going to be sung by the chorus in an elementary school in Bellingham, Massachusetts during an assembly. However, school officials decided that the words "God Bless The USA" should be changed to "We Love The USA" !!
Thanks to an uproar by parents, the school relented (the FOLLOWING day) and the song will be sung with the lyrics that Lee Greenwood wrote almost 30 years ago. Their assembly is scheduled for this Thursday, April 12th.
