🐐 They’re not firefighters, but they’re helping reduce wildfire risk.

Targeted grazing is one of the many wildfire prevention tools used across California. By feeding on dry grass, brush, and other vegetation, goats and sheep help reduce combustible fuel loads and remove ladder fuels that can carry fire from the ground into tree canopies.

This project was supported through a CAL FIRE Wildfire Prevention Grant, helping local partners reduce wildfire risk and build more fire-resilient communities.

Wildfire prevention is a year-round effort. Sometimes, it starts with a hungry herd.
