Thanks to Little Tokyo Historical Society for giving our Torchbearers a walking tour at Convening! Guide Bill Watanabe made a stop at the Go For Broke Monument to share its history and significance, as well as to highlight the new Go For Broke Plaza and our permanent home slated for completion later this year.
The Go For Broke Monument signifies the sacrifices of the 33,000 American WWII soldiers of Japanese ancestry who made it their fight to prove their loyalty to their country and to secure the rights and freedoms of future generations. It is engraved with the names of more than 16,000 Japanese American men and women who served during the war in the European, Pacific and China-Burma-India theaters.
