QAGOMA holds a collection of historical, modern and contemporary artworks from Australia and around the world, including an internationally significant collection of contemporary Asian and Pacific art, and develops and hosts diverse Australian and international exhibitions.

Both the Queensland Art Gallery (QAG) and Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) buildings have well equipped conservation laboratories. The conservation section has a range of specialisations; paintings, works on paper, sculpture, textiles, new media to frames.

GOMA Conservation houses the Centre for Contemporary Art Conservation, a specialist research centre equipped with a range of analytical and investigative tools including microscopy, infra-red reflectography, FTIR, pXRF and X-radiography.

Our works on paper conservators, Kim Barrett and Samantha Shellard will take you on a tour of the GOMA Conservation Lab, showcasing our facilities and the collaborative working nature across the various disciplines.

A major exhibition at QAGOMA in 2021 was 'The 10th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art' (APT10), which surveyed recent developments in the art of a wide geography spanning from Northern Oceania to West Asia, with particular attention to the contributions of First Nations and those living outside their home countries.
