Introduced in 1938, the GM.38 was, along with its direct predecessor the GM.30, the standard gas mask used by German troops throughout the Second World War. Perhaps its most famous feature was its iconic corrugated carrying tube or Gasmaskenbüchse designed to be carried across the lower back.
