The GLP-1 conversation just got more complicated — and we brought in the panel to break it all down.
In this episode of Healthy MENtality Live, the guys weigh in on four stories that are shaking up the GLP-1 space right now. First, a cast member from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives went public about using a GLP-1 despite having no medical need for weight loss — and also disclosed a long struggle with disordered eating. We handle that part with care, but we do ask the harder question: how did she get access in the first place?
Then we get into the gray and black market retatrutide situation. People are sourcing it outside of clinical channels and reporting side effects that look significantly worse than what showed up in the trials — and that's a serious problem, especially when you factor in that retatrutide is expected to be a step therapy medication, not something meant for people already at a normal BMI.
We also cover the official launch of Eli Lilly's oral GLP-1, orforglipron — now branded as Foundayo — and what it means for the battle between Lilly and Novo Nordisk. Does head-to-head oral competition finally start moving prices in the right direction for patients?
And finally, the State of Georgia is requiring state employees to go through a specific third-party platform called 9amHealth to get or keep GLP-1 coverage — and existing prior authorizations don't transfer. We talk about what that means for continuity of care and whether other states are watching.
