Decreasing carbon emissions is increasingly urgent to reduce the speed at which climate change is impacting our planet. But at the same time there are growing energy needs, especially in the global south, where a large part of the population still lacks access to electricity. This panel discussed the disconnect between what we need to do to reduce our carbon footprint and the current trend in energy consumption. Panellists include: Nana Ama Browne Klutse, University of Ghana; Serdar Niyazi Sarıçiftçi, Johannes Kepler University; and Adnan Shihab-Eldin, former Acting Secretary General of OPEC.
