Global Release Confirmed! Access available from what county so far?
Yesterday, we all thought the Pagtatag Documentary was going to be available exclusively on Netflix Philippines, especially since the updates on Netflix weren’t released at the same time. But it turns out that the film was actually had a global release. This was confirmed by A'TIN from different parts of the world posting about its availability.
However, this global release comes with some limitations. Netflix still decides which countries are likely to generate strong viewership, so the film will only be accessible in selected regions. As of now, we still don’t know how long the documentary will be available on the platform. We’ll likely find out once it officially starts streaming on July 23.
It all depends on the deal made with Netflix. Since this is a documentary, it’s unlikely to stay on the platform for a full year. Unlike several Netflix series which tend to have a wider and more lasting audience. Documentaries, especially those that focus on a specific person or group, usually experience a drop in viewership once the core fanbase has seen it. This is different from general movies that have a broad audience.
That’s why it’s important to watch the Pagtatag documentary as soon as it drops on July 23. In case it gets removed early, at least we’ve already watched it.

The documentary’s viewing performance is very important. A strong performance would make it easier for their next documentary film to get approved by Netflix. Just like Pagtatag, there’s a good chance that the SAW documentary will be released in cinemas first before making its way to Netflix.
Honestly, I haven’t watched the full Pagtatag documentary yet. I’ve only seen clips and teasers, so I’m just as excited to watch it. I’m looking forward to know what they went through during the copyright issue with their former management. I believe that you can only fully understand a situation once you’ve learned the stories behind the camera.
Now that the issue has been resolved, it’s inspiring to look back on their struggles and how they continued to push forward despite the mishaps. I know many of you are excited too, especially the new A'TIN like me. Because finally, we get the chance to watch this documentary again probably for the last time.
