Over the past decade, there has been a concerning global regression in human rights protections, driven by traditionalist and fundamentalist groups, conservative NGOs, civil society organizations, and politicians across both democratic and autocratic systems. These actors exploit misinformation, disinformation, and conspiracy theories to incite moral panic, aiming to undermine sexual and reproductive rights, restrict education on these topics, roll back LGBTI rights, and dismantle affirmative actions based on race, gender, and sexual orientation. They also work to limit the influence of international bodies like the United Nations.
This lecture, led by Tamara Adrián—an esteemed lawyer, academic, and human rights advocate with extensive international credentials—aims to raise awareness of this movement and empower participants with strategies to counter these regressive actions effectively.
