GASIFIER WOOD STOVE / ISLAND LUNCH / KAYAK ADVENTURE
Well… it smokes a little bit when it first gets started, but once it gets going “gasification” starts and the flames from the stove ignite and burn up the smoke, creating a smokeless fire.
My friend Mike @MIKESWILDWORLD likes his, so I decided to get myself one. Details of the stove that was sent to me are below.
It was a hot day on Lake Russell, on the border of South Carolina and Georgia, and I paddled the Old Town Discovery 119 Sportsman about 150 miles in 150 degree temperatures, but I survived.
You’ll just have to excuse my near nakedness… it was hot… REAL HOT, and at 60 years old, I really don’t care who sees me… I’m just glad to be alive and still be able to do fun stuff and share with y’all.
My phone overheated so sorry I couldn’t show you the “taste test” … it was real good!!!
The stove works great, and it is fun playing around with it. I think it costs about $23.00 (U.S.), but there is some kind of discount code below…
Thanks for watching!!!!

Our version of “Totino Pizza Rolls”
Easy and fun to make.... and they’re delicious!
Lakeside breakfast....
I took the Old Town Discovery 119 Solo Sportsman Canoe out for a while to try to catch Don @bucktalesoutdoors7566 a fish. He’s an avid fisherman, but won’t be able to go for a while due to an injury.
Hard to catch fish when it’s this hot, so I’ll pull over and brew up a new coffee @MIKESWILDWORLD gave me and cook up a quick breakfast using my old Arctic Canteen Cup from @CheezeheadChris and show y’all a military mess kit hack I learned from @journeyofbear6423
It was a peaceful day, that I very much needed.

FIRST AID KIT
It ain’t pretty, but it’ll get the job done and I already had all the stuff I needed to make myself a bag for a personal first aid kit.
I think it’s important to mark your first aid kit with the internationally known symbol in case someone else needs to find it quickly.... you may be the person who needs the medical attention, and you want the other person to find the kit quickly!
Be safe, be prepared...make your own gear and... HAVE FUN!

CAST IRON WEDNESDAY - MARCH 2023 Challenge is “Chicken Fried”
Today @MIKESWILDWORLD joins me for lunch at my camp in the woods while I make CHICKEN FRIED STEAK In a Cast Iron skillet
We spent several hours bushwhacking in the woods trying to find some of my old hunting stands and camping spots.
Soon it was time for lunch so we went back to camp to prepare our lunch. Mike cooked his breakfast for lunch, and I made “Chicken Fried Steak” for this month’s Cast Iron Wednesday Challenge from @shovelhead8 and his helper Timmy.
Join us while I use some new gear from the thrift store and from @kirknorthof5128 , and some old gear from @cabotbluegill to make my lunch in the woods!
Thanks for watching and check out my friends’ channels if you don’t already know them!

March 2023
This is just to show you how I make #cowboycoffee Much easier for me to show you vs. trying to type a bunch of stuff. Usually I use my Canteen Cup, but I thought it might be better to use a glass pot so you can see what’s going on inside the pot.
Try it!!!!!
Cheers🤠☕️☕️☕️☕️👍🏻

Today I’ll show you How I Make a SHRIMP “PO’ BOY” SANDWICH and a creole remoulade for The February 2023 #castironwednesday challenge at my camping spot in the woods because that’s what Timmy @shovelhead8 picked.
SHRIMP PO BOY sandwiches may be my favorite sandwich of all time.
Cooking In the woods takes some preparation and planning, but I think I have what I need to make a classic Louisiana style Shrimp Po Boy Sandwich today.
For this classic Louisiana sandwich I will make a remoulade, consisting of my favorite condiments and spices.
Frying shrimp in a cast iron skillet is easy, but be careful not to overcook them.
These are some JUMBO shrimp, so I will cook them about 6 minutes.
I will use the Coleman 400A camp stove, compliments of Steve @doinsngoins and some new stuff from @CheezeheadChris to prepare my lunch.
As always, I sure do appreciate you watching my crazy stuff. Thanks for commenting too, if you do.

Well, I normally do not put my Instagram things on YouTube, and I don't put my YouTube things on Instagram because I have different folks following me based on what I put on those platforms and I don't like duplicating things. But, one thing we all, except 6 of you "weirdos" ;-) like is coffee and cool ways to make it. I changed this up a little bit so it isn't exactly the same as I put on Instagram.
Steve and Robert, and Sean have been doing this coffee challenge thing for a long time, but Donna recently got a new (old) Miracle Maid coffee brewing pot, and "influenced" me to go ahead and get the same one I've been eyeballin' in a local shop.
Today I'll use my new (old) pot to brew up some coffee on the Coleman stove I received from Steve, and use my handmade spoon from Kerry, and some handmade mugs I got from some new friends I met last week during a visit to one of my work customers.
Thanks for watching, and check out my friends if you don't already know them!!!

Primus gas stove, French Press, Handmade spoon, 73 Forge Knife, the hidden woodsmen, Colorado Bushcraft waxed canvas gear
We decided to do some “campfire cooking” today. We used a vintage stovetop bread toaster, a military mess kit and some homemade gear to make a simple campfire breakfast at our camp in the woods.
For the people on Instagram, you will see the SPAM slicer I made cut SPAM for the very first time! 😂
Not the best tool in the world for the task, but it was fun making it and using it.
Flint and steel fire making, mess kit cooking, forged cooking gear and an antique toaster as well as my son are in this video making a simple campfire breakfast at our bushcraft camp in the woods.
Josh at QuicksandOutdoors gave me this piece of flint when we were camping In Kentucky . He makes knives and arrow points out of rocks. He’s just starting out on YouTube... you can find him here.... youtube.com/channel/UCRPv8np03yzHcdaSNaAgALw

Simple Campfire Breakfast, Bushcraft gear, Homemade knives, campfire cooking, outdoor cooking, bushcraft breakfast, cowboy cooking, easy blacksmith projects, cooking gear, Carolina Chris Outdoors
I saw a picture of something similar on Instagram but the description was in a foreign language... even the translation didn’t make sense to me. Luckily, pictures say a thousand words so I made this. I think I’ll use it with my twig stove. I can hang my pot close to the flame to keep water hot, but still use a skillet at the same time to cook my food.
Just a little project to kill some time while I had a few days off during the holidays.
If you like it, let me know..... I’m curious to know if y’all think it’s a waste of steel, and space in my pack, or maybe something that will be useful.
Please remember I’m not a real blacksmith. I just like making stuff and having fun!

Today I used my US Military Mess Kit and a COLEMAN Peak1 Model 400a Portable Camping Stove to prepare lunch at my bushcraft camp.
I was inspired to make “homemade chili” at camp after watching Carn @TheLoreofBushcraft make some during a recent video on his channel.
The Coleman Peak1 Model 400a stove was sent to me by my friend Steve Winkelman. Steve buys and sells a lot of collectibles and specializes in Coleman stoves and lanterns. Just in case you wondered, that was Marlin Original Golden Model 39A .22 I shot that branch with. It was my father’s. I use some kind of coffee filter thing I found at the thrift store and a repaired apparatus I “liberated” from the wife’s classroom to make some easy “pour over coffee”. Easy clean up, and real brewed coffee in my tent.... hard to beat!
Even better in my @RiverbendlongbowsOutdoors special edition coffee cup, and I’m using an old green Coleman single burner stove from my friend Cheezehead Chris youtube.com/c/CheezeheadChris to brew it up. I have to give credit to @TheLoreofBushcraft for convincing me to get a real coffee bean grinder.... it’s much more “civilized” than using the backside of my hatchet or a rock to process my coffee beans, so I’ll use it when tent camping. It is from a Japanese company called Snow Peak.
As usual, I want to say “thank you for watching”... and it’s time for you to go camping!!! ☕️👍🏻

I saw some real blacksmiths trying out this little Mr Volcano forge so I bought it for $75.00 but I think the price has gone up recently (like everything else)
I am not a blacksmith and certainly am not trying to teach anybody anything. I’m just having fun. This forge comes unassembled, and it takes a couple days to build it.
It sure is a lot cleaner than my coal forge!!!
The hammers I use are gifts from Howard @cabotbluegill and my anvil is homemade with help from @samsoutdooradventures88
I will make a simple meat flipper to help me grill some chicken thighs
I am hungry now.

After cleaning up my semi-permanent “Bushcraft Camp” I decided to throw together some stuff and cook a “mess kit” lunch. Everything tastes better when cooked outdoors!
This turned out exceptionally good, and I’ll definitely be having it again... except next time I’ll add a sliced mushroom I think.
As usual, I thank you for spending some time with me and I look forward to reading your comments!
Check out RW Fred handmade knives and Scout Lakai on Instagram .... tell ‘em I sent ya’! ✌️

Well... I had to do it.
“Asian lettuce wraps” using traditional ingredients... and maybe one, not so traditional ingredient... HA!
Watch how I make a SPAMazing lunch at my backyard “Tiki Bar”. I’ll use my 30 year old “Lodge Cast Iron Wok” and some “Turkey SPAM” to create a tasty lunch that “PF Chang” himself would want to eat!!!
It’s all to support #spamtember that my friends @journeyofbear6423 and @thecreativeoutdoorsman981
promote on their channels
.... and to satisfy @diydarkmatter who has relentlessly, and practically begged us for more outdoor cooking videos 😂
Thank you for watching.
Do you have a unique SPAM recipe???
