Every generation has its 'widowmaker' - the bike that strikes fear into every heart. The KTM 1290 Super Duke R has all the characteristics of a raging monster - massive power, low gearing and a dash of KTM attitude. But as Loz discovers, it's a bit of a pussycat - even in Sport mode and with the traction control off. It'll only bite your head off if you want it to. The throttle mapping is some kind of black magic.
