I kinda love Fish Tank a lot. Partly because Fassbender, but mostly the grittiness to it. Mia against the world, and yet she seems to crave some form of intimacy...and she finds that in in Conor when he takes in interest in her and her passion for dancing.
It's despicable and dark and Fassbender is fantastic in his role of charming Mia, encouraging her to look at him...touch him. The color palette is gorgeous and frankly makes what could have been a lackluster film and elevates it. The pathos of the film is distressing but I like the path of self-realization.
