This is just a route to trap yourself outside of Viridian Gym using the block corruption caused by dokokashira door glitch. ^^ Note by the time I got to Viridian City, I may have been able to do this earlier, but left the emulator on turbo speed (corrected to regular speed by the video) and walked more than I should have. Note this may also work the same on Japanese Blue or with a modification (where the base dokokashira door glitch/Select glitch also works).

Unlike this https://glitchcity.wiki/Infinite_Blaine_Door - the soft-lock is actually infinite because the other involved an NPC that could later move out of the way, but in this case the map block has changed to be impassable by the time you access the door, and four steps are required to change it (but you can't make extra steps at that point).
