Just thought I'd upload this here given that I made a speedpaint of the first drawing (youtube.com/watch?v=wVwU-AhW3Cg)
it's Giovanni and Campanella from Night on the Galactic Railroad!
it's not an exact redraw but I do like to see how I've improved in terms of anatomy and proportions in comparison to the first image. I didn't bother to shade the second image though, I just colored my sketch and left it as that.
I went for more of a mysterious rather than peaceful vibe, so now the void is a halo for Campanella. idk I thought it looked cool.
anyway my brain is still in Cairo, 1989
