I'm sure most of you have heard; the past few songs I've released have been part of a bigger project, my next full studio album. This project has been Ghosts in the Code, the follow-up to last year's Mirrors, and the similarly themed album before that, From All Sides. Ghosts in the Code is a blend of my usual musical styles with a plethora of new combinations, such as 8-bit Punk, Synth Metal, and Acoustic New Wave.

Here we are together, at the end of an era. With Bonfire (A Rest) hailing as my final Dark Souls song, it felt appropriate to pay tribute to the serene melancholy of gathering around a flame and resting while bumping into other travelers of the same need. Somewhere along the way, it turned into a ballad of friendship and comradery, much like an end-of-the-year holiday gathering among old acquaintances. I suppose this is about as seasonal as a Dark Souls song could be! Ive even gone and edited in a little extra holiday cheer.
Thank you all for being here with me on my journey through these transitory lands.
Lyrics:
I felt my bones shiver
Across rifts of time
I saw ghosts in the mist
And their faces like mine
And I looked to the footsteps
And gazed on a sign
That said call my name
Ill join in the fight
Broken and withered
We will rise again
My brothers and sisters
In death we are friends
Incandescent together
A slow fading light
The efforts cascading
Our time is tonight
Fractured and feeble
Ordinary people
Putting resolve to the test
Nobody chose to be risen
But new life is given
When we light a bonfire to rest
Old friends and rivals
We sit by the flame
To share in the moment
Before we can claim
Our own destinys purpose
In each of our homes
Weve all got our battles
But no ones alone
Nameless and searching
The light keeps us warm
In need and in danger
It guides through the storm
As we share in a question
Will we meet again
To sing by the embers
And brace for the end
Fractured and feeble
Ordinary people
Putting resolve to the test
Nobody chose to be risen
But new life is given
When we light a bonfire to rest
Undying forever
Through war and dark weather
Binding to search for a light
Some lit by grace or by embers
Were searching together
Starved for that break from the fight
Swords losing sharpness
To angels and darkness
These soldiers push on through the mire
Now were all faced with the ending
The burn before mending
A vision to let there be fire
Fractured and feeble
Ordinary people
Putting resolve to the test
Nobody chose to be risen
But new life is given
