This is a remake of a video I uploaded a few years ago. Very little has been changed from the original, it's just better picture/audio quality.
The Story:
Montsaye High School is the site of an unsolved murder case which took place several years ago. Ten students were killed in one night, apparently without a motive and with no weapons ever found. The coroners were not even able to establish a cause of death. All very mysterious.
One of the tutors, a certain Professor Brook, vanished without trace and for this reason he is the prime suspect in the killings.
The demolition crew working on the building have called the police to report some strange disturbances, and since the case is still unsolved the police are obliged to investigate. The responding officers are Lazarus Jones and his senior partner, Anna Steele.
Lazarus is a small town boy with big ambitions. Having been newly promoted to the rank of detective, it's his first day in a new job and he's eager to impress.
As the two officers carry out a routine investigation of the school, Lazarus stumbles across what appears to be a laboratory hidden in the basement. The lab houses the Array - a machine which contains and draws power from ghosts.
Before you can say 'Walter Peck', Lazarus has released those imprisoned spirits, allowing them to return to their previous haunting ground and continue bening a royal pain in the arse.
One of those spirits is an extremely malevolent medieval knight by the name of William Hawksmoor who promptly takes Anna Steele hostage.
Fortunately, some of the spirits are friendly and one of them, Astral, bonds with Lazarus, giving him the power of second sight and allowing him to see the ghosts he must now recapture. With her help, and the use of special weapons, Lazarus must now hunt down and reimprison the ghosts in order to rescue Steele and foil Hawsmoor.
Also on his missing list is Peter Richmond, the man who created all of this technology - he can provide us with answers the computer guide in unable - or perhaps unwilling - to.
What really happened at the school two years ago? Why is Astral helping us? And most importantly, what is Hawskmoor's goal?
Ghosthunter was a Playstation 2 exclusive, released by SCEE in December 2003 in PAL regions and released by Namco some time later for North America & Japan. It was praised for its graphics and sound (remember this is PS2, folks!) but many felt the gameplay left a lot to be desired.
I personally class this as a flawed gem - while there's much to admire in the game, there are certainly areas which could have been improved on, and I suspect that was due to time constraints.
Anyway, some people seem to like it, and if they can put Primal on PS4, they can do this too.
