I am pretty sure this is the first time you can make ghost blocks since 1.5 snapshots!

Ghost blocks disappear after relogging and also when you push other real stuff into them or let a water stream touch them. All other entities will go right through because the blocks really do only exist for your client and they are calculated/managed by the server.
