Sample test of GH2 'unhacked' v 'low gop 3 vitaly hack gh2 @ 24P.
LEFT hand side of screen = GH2 Original unhacked
RIGHT hand side of screen = hacked using kae/butt setD settings (3 GOP)
Both recorded at same time, same 14-140 lens left on AF, AWB, Auto ISO.
I believe more detail and smoother on the hack. And a definite increase in the yellow factor on the hack version. The stronger bitrate is providing better pictures and more detail and colour. There is also smoother movement (even though I was moving quicker on the hacked body). Check the wall shadows - tighter and more definitive.
On camera picture setting was 'MY Film all set to -2' to avoid any arguments.
images imported into PP5.5, layed alongside each other and output to 23.97 mpeg2 before re-encoding to Youtube mp4 h264.
Therefore both fairly treated in the downgrade compression.
Real world summary is that the hack is providing great results.
