AdoramaJoin the Adorama Team in Amsterdam, Netherlands, for the IBC Show 2024. In this video, we bring you the latest industry updates and innovations, ensuring you stay informed about the latest tech.
On day 1, we started the show by visiting Blackmagic Design for arguably their biggest launch of the year: the URSA Cinema 17K.
Seth teamed up with Ted Sims from Aputure to nerd out over the tech on the Light Storm 1200x. We knew we had to speak with Mark Cruz from Nikon/RED to understand the latest merger of two industry giants. We then shifted our focus to the DZOFILM Arles B set, witnessing their impressive expansion to their line of fast primes. Last but not least, we walked over to SmallRig, where they showcased the TRIPOD system, which revolutionized tun and gun tripods as well as a new Prototype X-H2s Cine Expansion Kit.
As always, stay tuned for more updates and exclusive interviews from the Adorama team. With Seth Miranda on the mic straight from the IBC Show 2024 floor, Day 2 drops on Sunday.

It’s an understandable reaction to a more complex photo session. Adding an extra person means you need to start thinking about how two people are posing, do you have enough depth of field to keep them both in focus, will one person cast a shadow onto the other… and so on.
But working with a couple has just as much creative lighting opportunities as working with a solo model. The secret to success is, of course, forward planning. That’s where photographer Gavin Hoey can help.
In this video, Gavin shares so simple but stunning ideas to make your next couples studio portrait session a lot more creative. Starting with a back lit profile look, Gavin shows how you can adapt this basic idea into something with a little more mood by careful use of two lights and a little depth of field control.
For an alternative look, Gavin sets up a one flash, two people portrait. By using a softbox or stripbox as a background, Gavin shows how you can create eye-catching edge lit portraits where the light modifier itself becomes an integral part of the scene.
Gavin Hoey is a freelance photographer, writer, and trainer of all things photographic. His work is regularly featured in photography magazines, websites and videos. Gavin has a real passion for sharing his photography and Photoshop knowledge. In 2008 he started recording and uploading video tutorials to YouTube.

Sometimes called egg crates, grids on softboxes give the light more direction, reducing unwanted light spills and lowering the risk of lens flare. But there’s more to grids than that.
In this live-streamed photo session, Gavin Hoey tries out grids not just on softboxes but also on reflectors. He’ll explore how grid angles affect the light spread and share some creative lighting tips to make grids more than just a way to channel light. Of course, like any light modifier, grids can also cause unexpected issues, so Gavin will cover those as well.

But why would you want shadows with crisp edges for a studio portrait?
In this video, photographer Gavin Hoey explains how and why hard light can look amazing in a cinematic style. Nothing combines those two features better than the classic Film Noir lighting look.
Gavin starts by casting a shadow on his model using a set of Venetian blinds. He shows that hard light comes in different looks, which can be controlled simply by adapting the size of the Speedlight using modifiers such as a dome diffuser or a snoot.
Next, Gavin shows another property of hard light. Hard light might be just the ticket if you want the ultimate sharp-looking images. Finally, Gavin takes the process further by introducing cinematic styling and his trademark smoke into the scene.

I highlight the RF 35mm's ability to simplify backgrounds, create depth, exaggerate height, and add trendy distortion to closeup images.
I capture shots in several scenarios using natural light on a tree-lined city street and against colorful backgrounds in a garage. You'll see how this lens helps me achieve beautiful bokeh in the background, the exaggeratedly large eyes of our subject, and the smooth and high-key look of her skin/background.

__________________________________ THANKS SO MUCH FOR WATCHING!Turning Your Mood Board into a Music Video ft. Ben Goldsmith | Behind the BeatAdorama2024-09-06 | Introducing Behind the Beat, a new series presented by AdoramaTV.
This is a behind-the-scenes music video series where high visual quality meets low-budget filmmaking! Director Sal D'Alia shares tips and tricks in this series for creating stunning music videos without breaking the bank. Each episode dives into the world of budget-friendly production, featuring SONY Audio ambassador artists across various genres and styles.
Watch as Sal D’Alia shows how to shoot a music video for 3 hours outdoors at night under a $2,000 budget.
This episode breaks down the video's pre-production, production, and post-production, from the concept to the final color correction and export.
We see that great visuals can be achieved with minimal gear and budget. Some brands covered in the behind-the-scenes are Sony, DJI, Tiffen, Hobolite, Peak Design, and Blackmagic's Da Vinci Resolve.
Singer-songwriter and multidimensional artist Ben Goldsmith would like to tell you he “never could’ve imagined” this for himself. Still, he’s quick to note that – call it confidence or preternatural headstrongness years in the making – it’d just not be true. “In a way, I’ve been working towards this since I was 3 or 4,” he says on a Zoom call from his Long Island bedroom. “I’ve never strayed. It’s the only thing I’ve ever wanted to do.”
That “thing” Ben’s referring to is making music – more than music, it’s lyrically-driven art free from genre, with a sharp point of view and melodies as strong as some of the teen’s many influences. Ben was born and bred on acts like Aerosmith, Dave Mathews Band, Elton John, Queen, Stevie Wonder, John Mayer, and Bob Dylan. Modern artists like Zach Bryan, Maggie Rogers, Steve Lacy, and Sam Fender helped round out his style and his sonic influences, drawing inspiration from the sort of iconoclasts who – like Ben – float between worlds, genres, and sounds, a jack and master of all trades.
