This is a new clip I found yesterday which saves up to 16 seconds.
For the PS version of the clip to work you first need to align yourself like I did in the video. That means:
One: The very tip of your hat should touch the light-brown part.
Two: Gex's hat should be a tiny bit to the right of the screws in the middle.
After that press Up + X + R2 very fast AFTER ANOTHER. You can't press it too fast after another because then Gex might not jump but press it after another as fast as the game allows it. Also don't let go of Up.
For the N64 version of the clip there's nothing to explain, just fly into that glass tile at the very right and you'll clip through.
