The Ribbon and Chantage are 2 of the best pieces of equipment in the game, and there's a trick to getting them earlier.
The Ribbon basically nullifies all of the negative side effects in the game, and the Chantage gives you perpetual Regen and Reraise, making you an unkillable giga soldier.
There's a chance to find a pig monster at the story mission before Goug in the Tchigolith Fenlands. You need to reload your save and re-enter until they show up.
Then you recruit them to your team with an Orator, and once you've filled your party with piggies, you go on a poaching spree. Then, right at the start of Chapter 3, you've got yourself some OP items.
