My family has owned this steam engine since 2012, and has had it certified with ABSA for almost as long as we’ve had it. However every 5 years it requires an intensive recertification process to keep it running legally for public shows. In this video I detail the process of preparing for, and performing the ultrasonic thickness test, magnetic partical examination, and hyraulic test, as well as a number of mechanical fixes and improvements along the way to get it ready for a fun season of steaming.
If you want to come see this engine in action, come to Fort Edmonton Park, where this engine will be running on weekends from August 29, to Sept 20, 2026.
The enine is a 22-68hp Sawyer Massey built in Canada, and used on the praires for plowing, threshing, road building, and sawmill work.
