Get To Work Wednesday | From Books to Actions

In this video, I introduce a new monthly series on activism. If you are so moved to take any action from this video and you want to encourage others, please do so! In the spirit of collective actions, let’s join up and get to work.

Books discussed:
Hope in the Dark- Rebecca Solnit
Freedom Is A Constant Struggle: Ferguson, Palestine and the Foundations of a Movement by Angela Davis
Direct Action: Protest and Reinvention of American Radicalism by L.A. Kauffman
Rules For Revolutionaries: How Organizing Can Change Everything by Becky Bond and Zack Exley
Radical Hope: Letters of Love and Dissent in Dangerous Times- edited by Carolina de Robertis
What We Do Now- Standing Up For Your Values in Trump’s America - edited by Dennis Johnson and Valeria Merians
Riot Days by Maria Alyokhina
When We Rise: My Life in the Movement by Cleve Jones

Actions spoken about in this video:
US Voting for the November Election
1) Check on your voter registration status or sign up to vote
Google offers a great way to do this, by simply typing in “US voter registration”. On the search engine results page, Google serves up state specific and non-partisan information and links to use.

2) Request an absentee/mail in ballot

3) Know when your voter packets/ mail ballot will be sent out so you can track when it should arrive. Use that information to start the research into the candidates and the initiatives/propositions on the ballot so you are an informed voter.

4) Come up with your voting plan and a back up plan
