Jak and Daxter are two young guys living in Sandover Village. The wisest man in the village, the Green Sage Samos Hagai, told them to never go to Misty Island, so of course they went there to check it out. While there they overhear the nasty lurkers who plan to find ancient artifacts of the mysterious Precursors and eventually attack the village! At one point they are found by a lurker, and Daxter ends up accidentally falling into a giant pool of Dark Eco, which transforms him into a weasel-like creature. The Green Sage scolds them when they return to the village and informs them that the only person who can help Daxter turn back into his old self; the one with enough knowledge of Dark Eco, Gol Acheron, lives far, far to the north. So now Jak and Daxter has to set out on a long journey to find Gol Acheron, who can hopefully help Daxter return to his human self.
But there are many obstacles on the way, and to be able to get rid of those obstacles the duo needs to collect Precursor orbs and the more rare Power Cells through exploring the lands and helping out the inhabitants. Will Jak and Daxter find the secrets of the Precursors and understand the mysteries of Eco?
