Four-time champions Germany and the Netherlands crashed out of the World Cup after dramatic penalty shootout defeats to Paraguay and Morocco respectively. It is the first time Germany have lost a World Cup shootout, while Morocco’s victory over the Dutch sees them progress to the last 16 again having reached the semi finals in 2022.
