From februari 1945 the sixty German bunkers in the “Dennen” forrest near Den Burg on the Dutch island of Texel, were manned by the staff and support company of the 822nd Georgian Infantry Battalion Königin Tamara.

The bunkers in the complex were interconnected by open trenches. The structures included a mess hall, two hospital bunkers and several kitchens and garages. It was enclosed by a barbed wire fence with a checkpoint.

During the Georgian Uprising (5 April 1945 - 20 Mei 1945), Georgian troops held the complex for several days until they were forced to retreat via De Koog and the airport towards the light house. Many German and Georgian soldiers died in these woods.
