There were two German strongpoints on the strategic Mont de Couple. Strongpoint Hamm was an artillery command post. Strongpoint Osnabrück gave shelter to the Luftwaffe X/Y-Verfahren radio guidance system. With this system German bombers were guided on their missions over England.
