Symmetry-protected topological (SPT) phases have become a topic of great interest in modern condensed matter physics. These exotic quantum phases are actively studied for their potential relevance to quantum memory and next-generation electronics. In a collaboration between the Hartree Centre, the National Physical Laboratory, and the University of Oxford in the U.K., along with IBM Quantum, researchers have prepared and characterized these phases on an unprecedented 100 qubits.
