An incredible song and an equally incredible performance from the great Jim Gordon. An excellent example of his ability to orchestrate his parts and play them with the absolute best feel and sense of time.
It’s a little bit tricky to decipher exactly what he’s playing on this song due to the Phil Spector Wall of Sound production. If you listen to the isolated tracks, it almost sounds as if there are no cymbals being played at all. I’m fairly certain he’s playing the high hats in the way that I’ve done it here in this video. Quarter notes during the verses and eighth notes during the choruses. This is just my interpretation though. Enjoy!
