The dancer/actor George Chakiris, who won the 1961 best supporting actor Academy Award for his portrayal of Bernardo in "West Side Story," is one of the nicest guys in Hollywood. During a trip that I made to Los Angeles in August 2010 to conduct interviews for a book that I'm writing, he agreed to speak with me. He initially mentioned that my videographer and I could swing by his nearby home, and I mentioned how excited I would be to do that because I would presumably see his Oscar. He later called back to suggest that we instead meet at the hotel where my friend and I were staying, since there was a lot of noise around his house that day. I was a bit disappointed, but didn't say anything. When he arrived at the hotel, though, he revealed an awesome surprise... talk about going above and beyond!
