The discovery of hyperbolic geometry in the 19th century was a revolution in mathematics which continues to have impact to the present day, with connections to diverse areas including group theory, number theory and theoretical physics. This lecture will introduce the hyperboloid model for hyperbolic geometry, which is closely linked to the study of Special Relativity.

All first and second year lectures are followed by tutorials where students meet their tutor in pairs to go through the lecture and associated problem sheet and to talk and think more about the maths. Third and fourth year lectures are followed by classes.
