GEOKINETICS - A sculpture by Steven L. Rieman
"This geokinetic sculpture is composed of a 12-foot mast and two delicately balanced, bearing-mounted discs with tails. The two elements move independently of each other. Like the wind that moves them, their movement is both fluid and unpredictable. This piece has been referred to as the "gentle giant." Its movements are never rapid or hurried, even in the strongest wind, and it spins lazily in the calmest breezes. The sculpture spans 20 feet when its arms are in opposition, and each arm weighs 800 pounds. The arms' delicate balance places them variously in and out of harmony with each other - a reminder that all relationships are at best delicate and ever changing."
