Join us for a preview of Geo-Congress 2026 in Salt Lake City!
Geo-Congress is the annual meeting of the Geo-Institute - sort of a geotechnical family reunion. Every year in February or March, our community gathers for amazing keynotes, great technical talks, the biggest geotechnical exhibit hall in North America, and a lot of fun! To prepare for the 2026 conference in Salt Lake City, we bring you a series of live streams featuring case histories from the Intermountain West!
Our first in the series will be presented Wednesday, November 19, at 2pm ET. Loren Anderson of Utah State University will present on the Teton Dam Failure.
Loren R. Anderson, PhD, PE, is a Professor Emeritus of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Utah State University and a Principal with Risk Assessment Consulting (RAC) Engineers and Economists. Dr. Anderson has been involved with earth dam design and dam safety risk assessment for more than fifty years. He has many technical publications in dam safety risk assessment, geotechnical engineering and earthquake engineering. He is the author of three university textbooks on Geotechnical Engineering topics and the editor of the American Society of Civil Engineers Geotechnical Special Publication No. 35 on Geotechnical Practice in Dam Rehabilitation. He was the Chair of the Organizing Committee for Geo-Logan97, the first National Meeting of the ASCE Geo-Institute.
The Geo-Institute is a technical society with about 12,000 geotechnical engineers and geologists as members. Find out more or join at http://www.geoinstitute.org.
