Genivi began in March 2009 and has 50 members from automotive leaders. The goal is to drive competition at all levels, expand beyond the X86 and includes other types of processors. There are 15 different silicon providers and many software providers from Automotive Tier 1s and OEMs as well. Genivi has released 1.0 as a release candidate and will be released to the Moblin community. Some of the software will be open source and other parts will be only for the Genivi community.
