The Sega Genesis (AKA Mega Drive) had almost 100% backward compatibility with the 8-bit Master System. A simple converter for the cartridges was all that was needed to play most Master System games. However, on your typical Genesis setup you will run into problems with a few games because of incompatibilities with the Genesis controller. Many online would have you believe that a genuine Master System controller is needed for these games. This is untrue. Any 2 button Atari style joystick will do and in this video I will show you one of the ways to get your Genesis controller working as well.
