Stateless Code | Generate a New Rails 7 Project With Tailwind and PostgreSQL @StatelessCode | Uploaded September 2022 | Updated October 2024, 8 hours ago.
Hello World; Taxation is Theft! This is the 1st video in the NerdDice.com series where we will create a role-playing game application using Ruby on Rails 7 and set up a GitHub project to track our product backlog.

As we build this app together, we will try as much as possible to use the Rails 7 front-end Hotwire default of Turbo and Stimulus. When we generate the project the only command line options we will modify are to use PostgreSQL instead of SQLite3 as the database and to use Tailwind as the CSS framework.

This video covers:
00:00:30 Introduction to the Project
00:04:17 Create the blank repo in GitHub
00:06:06 Generate project with rails new nerd_dice_dot_com -d postgresql --css tailwind
00:07:45 Examine the project directory
00:09:29 Ensure we can get the smoke test page working (need to create database) using rails s and bin/dev
00:11:33 Initial commit
00:12:28 OBS Crash: Redo steps that were lost
00:12:58 Add Unlicense to initial commit and use git commit --amend
00:14:45 Set the remote origin of the git repo to match the GitHub repo
00:15:58 Set up a new GitHub project
00:18:25 Associate the project with the GitHub repo
