This is my book review of Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata, a novel about a woman who works at a Convenience Store, who is expected to expect more.

I was partly reading this to give a nod to the awesome book event "Shorty September" created by @TooManyHeathers and @pastorytime2683 - both channels massively worth checking out.
The prompts are a stroke of genius for an event celebrating short fiction:
🩳 Ripped Shorts: Read a Mystery or Slasher.
🩳 Summer Cookout Shorts: Read a book and eat/slash cook something that goes with it.
🩳 Leopard Print Shorts: Read a book you've seen someone else reading out in the wild (can be out in public or online).
🩳 Half & Half Shorts: Read a book then watch the movie (or the other way round).
🩳 Micro (Taylor Swift) Shorts: Read a poetry book or read a book with a break-up in it.
🩳 Jorts (jean shorts): Read a book from the 70s or 80s.
🩳 Rock Star Shorts: Read a book and pair it with a song or album.
🩳 Zip-off Trousers: Read a book with a title that could be shorter.
🩳 Paper Bag Shorts: Buy a book and read it! (bonus points for getting a paper bag).
🩳 Supermarket 2-Pack Shorts Bundle: Read a non-fiction book that ties in with another of your shorties.
🩳 Nu-Metal Bermuda Shorts: Read a book that mixes genres.
🩳 Shorts with Pockets: Read a book with something on the cover that would fit in pocket.
I'm hoping to get to a couple more shorts, but because of two chunky books I'm reading this month, I'm only giving a nod to the event.
