This was a demonstration shoot of a tiny suppressor put on by Gemtech. I do not think it is a production model, but it seemed to act as a great blast and flash suppressor and cut down significantly on the sound. While no suppressor can be 100% effective in eliminating sound, most manufacturers strive for greater and greater levels of efficiency, light weight, ease of maintenance, or reduced cost of manufacturing.
This little device seems aimed at a minimum size at acceptable performance levels. I can see the advantage of a holster-able pistol that operators can fire in confined spaces like vehicles, inside buildings, etc. without hearing protection to still allow verbal communications.
