Goals. 10 year goals. I remember scribbling a collection plan on a napkin back in 2012. It had various Pokemon sets written out. Many were out of order, without clear direction. I decided it's not crazy to spend $90 on a Pokemon card while making $20/hour. As long as it wasn't over $100 for 1st ed 9 Base holos, then it was a good deal. That's all it needed to be. A fair price that wouldn't go down. It was justified.
What came next was totally unexpected. It was electric. Nostalgia running through your veins. Newly found energy with a sense of drive. It was Christmas of 1999 all over again. The passion had been reborn.
Weekly packages turning into daily. My career accelerated faster than expected. It was the right blend of determination and addiction. Christmas morning was now every morning. Goals had been written and a plan was made.
This video showcases the core piece of the original goals: All of the holographic set cards in PSA 10. It's what I remembered as a kid. There was a beginning and an end. It was a true challenge that had never before been accomplished. It took a stubborn level of determination to spend adult dollars on childhood toys. It was the perfect storm that created Gem Mint Pokemon and the collection presented in the video.
