I am so excited for the continuation of the gel printing techniques workshop I taught in the spring of 2025, where we explored over 24 techniques and created more than 50 printed papers together. It was such a rich experience that I knew we needed a deeper second round.
Part One: New Techniques
We’ll dive into a dozen or more additional gel printing techniques, expanding your visual vocabulary and giving you fresh ways to approach your plates. These techniques build beautifully on what you may already know, but they’re also accessible if you’re newer to gel printing.
Part Two: Live Q&A + Troubleshooting (The Lab)
This is where the magic happens.
Think of this session as a gel printing laboratory.
I’m inviting you to work alongside me on Zoom. Have your gel plates, paints, brayers, and papers ready. I’ll demonstrate techniques in real time, and we’ll pause to troubleshoot together.
Part Three: Gel Prints for Books (and Collage)
I get asked this all the time:
“Why do my gel prints stick together when I put them in a book?”
In this section, we’ll talk about:
• The best papers to use for gel printing specifically for book structures
• Which papers work best for different techniques
• Paint choices and surface considerations
• How to make certain paints more book-friendly when they’re not quite playing nice
• What works best for collage vs. book pages
DETAILS
• When: February 15th
• Format: Live Zoom session (always recorded and available for anyone who can't attend live and for those who want to rewatch to soak more in!)
