Gaustatoppen is the highest mountain in the county Telemark in Norway. From the summit you can see an area of approximately 60,000 km², one sixth of Norway's mainland.The "Norseman Xtreme Triathlon", billed as "the world's most brutal iron-distance triathlon starts in Eidfjord and finishes at the top of Gaustatoppen. The summit is accessible on foot in the summer, on a rocky pathway of medium difficulty and this is where we walked. The southern side of the mountain is very dangerous and inaccessible. There's even a wreckage of an airplane crash that lies there, cuz it's too difficult to remove it. There's a railway inside of the mountain that just recently because available to the public, so if you just wanna see the view from the summit you don't have to actually walk to the top. We passed by a place where a German man had died on his way down and a guy at Labro museum told us earlier in the day that we should be looking for a cross that they put there in memory if him. Apparently the only thing on his bucket-list was to climb Gaustatoppen, and he did, but then died on his way down. That's all, if you go to Telemark in Norway some day I recommend going here. It was awesome! However I feel like I'm in pretty good shape, but still, this was pretty hard on my knees and legs. I'm a mess today 2 days after :P So.. Be prepared! :)
