In this follow-up to my previous Gaussian Splatting training video, I walk through a complete cleanup workflow for raw 3D Gaussian Splats in Houdini β starting with simple, hand-built VEX Wrangles and ending with a free, ready-to-use HDA that brings it all together.
You'll learn how to work directly with raw PLY splat attributes (pre-bake), including:
πΉ Filtering floaters by scale/area
πΉ Cleaning up low-opacity (alpha) points
πΉ Isolating unwanted colors via hue filtering
πΉ Removing floaters based on neighbor distance (pcfind)
We start with standalone VEX Wrangles so you understand exactly what's happening under the hood, then move on to the full Gaussian Splat Cleanup HDA, which combines duplicate removal, alpha filtering, scale/area filtering, statistical floater detection, hue filtering, hole filling, and orientation cleanup into one modular, artist-friendly tool.
