I may be a tad late to the party here, but I only just learned that Gauntlet for the NES is not a port of the arcade game! Instead, it is its own completely different thing, based on the core mechanics of the arcade game, but redesigned and rebalanced specifically for home play. This makes it a great example of why home versions of arcade games are just as important to preserve as the originals.
