Back in the Yu-gi-oh anime during the Duelist Kingdom arc, Yugi and Joey were forced to have the first ever tag-team duel against the twins, Para and Dox, who guarded the underground gates to Pegasus’s castle. Known as the Paradox Brothers and with the Mei kanji, or a character in Japanese, on Para’s forehead and Kyu kanji on Dox’s to combine and become Meikyuu or Labyrinth (Labyrinth Wall) in English. They utilized their labyrinth to confuse the two protagonists with a variety of tricks and summon their boss monster that is said to rival Exodia (Exodia the Forbidden One), the monster that obliterated Kaiba in Yugi’s first on-screen win. Their boss monster, Gate Guardian, would be the progenitor of Contact Fusion, and the topic of this Failed Archetype story.
