A spectacular hillstream loach from Borneo, most likely from the clear, fast-flowing forest streams of Kalimantan / Indonesian Borneo. Like other Gastromyzon species, it inhabits shallow, oxygen-rich mountain and rainforest streams with strong currents, smooth rocks, gravel, and submerged wood.
In the wild, these fish live close to rocky surfaces, where they feed on biofilm, microalgae, detritus, and tiny microorganisms. Their flattened body and wide pectoral and pelvic fins help them cling to rocks in fast-flowing water, almost like a natural suction system.
