Garden Hose Washer Replacement

In this quick video we’ll show you how to fix those leaky garden hose connections by replacing the washer.
This is a very simple repair that anyone can do that helps you stop wasting water.
The leak typically occurs where the garden hose connects to the spigot or at the other end where you might have a hose end sprayer connected like we’re showing or perhaps a water sprinkler or maybe even another water hose.
On this end the washer would be in the nozzle or sprinkler where it connects to the hose.
The most common cause of the leak is that the washer inside the connection is worn out or damaged. In some cases, it may be completely missing. I like using washers that are bright colors like these yellows ones so I can tell at a quick glance if it’s in place or not. I also like using this style with the little tabs that help hold it in place on the threads.
The washers are very inexpensive and it’s a good idea to keep a few spares on hand and it makes sense to go ahead and replace them maybe a few times a year or for sure when you hook your outdoor hoses up after being disconnected for the winter.
