Could you get these games to work on modern operating systems with smoother and better results? Absolutely! There's almost no reason to even attempt to run these things under a emulated OS, but common sense have never stopped me from doing anything. You can see the stats on the top right if you want to see how hard DosBox is struggling.

Not to say that things are a total loss. The Voodoo emulation in DosBox Pure comes with a couple of upsides. Namely the ability to pass rendering to your actual video card (on by default), and the ability to up the internal rendering up to 8 times the base resolution.

Emulated System:
Dosbox Pure Unleashed 1.0 Preview 4
Windows 98 w/ IceMan Voodoo1 Win9x Driver (V3.01.01)
Direct X 8a

Specs:
AMD Ryzen 7800X3D
Nvidia RTX 3090
32 GB RAM @ 6200 MT/s

0:00 Hellbender (This one benefits from the higher internal resolution quite a bit)
9:56 Nuclear Strike (Needs at minimum a CPU throttle, otherwise the winch and movement breaks)
19:56 X-Wing Vs Tie Fighter (Needs the latest patch or balance of power to enable 3-d acceleration. If the text on the MFD wasn't buggered then it'd be perfect.)
29:20 Urban Assault (This one works pretty clean. Pretty cool game too.)
37:32 Incoming! (Suppose I could fix the cycles count to make the tactical portion work better, but then FPS will be all over the place.)
48:04 Comanche 3 Gold (RIP headphone users. The lack of 3-d acceleration here hurts. Damn voxel engine. I'd like this game better if the input lag wasn't so high.)
52:58 F-22 Lightning 3 (If only I still had that keyboard overlay that was shipped with this game.)
1:00:09 Tachyon - The Fringe (In the barely functioning category we got 'Bruce Campbell: the space adventure). The unofficial voodoo drivers and DX 8 are mandatory here.)
1:04:35 Starlancer (It's the freaking 2-d menu sequences and animations that chugs this game to a halt. Who's bright idea was it to pass those through the 3-d accelerator? Absolutely heartbreaking.)
