My Final Project for my Intro to Stop Motion Class, in which I finally return to my roots in animating Bionicle figures. It is of course inspired by the scene in the third Bionicle comic where Gali has the underwater vision of the Toa Kaita after being knocked out (bionicle.wikia.com/wiki/Comic_3:_Triumph_of_the_Toa).
I do not own ANY of the audio used here, in which I combined audio of Keisha Castle-Hughes from the 2002 film “Whale Rider” with the famous “Remember who you are” scene from “The Lion King” starring James Earl Jones; the later one cannot help but compare to Gali's vision from the original comics.
Both Whale Rider and The Lion King (and of course Bionicle) were huge elements of my childhood, especially Whale Rider with Keisha Castle-Hughes astounding performance as the lead role as a steadfast Maori girl. If one reads about the Maori connection to Bionicle, it would be easy to recognize why I would connect Whale Rider to Bionicle. It also wouldn't be surprising that I always imagined Gali as having a voice similar to Keisha Castle-Hughes, not to mention Mata Nui having the epic voice of James Earl Jones. If you've seen an earlier video of mine, you could tell that.
