Galectin-3 is a pro-inflammatory protein that acts like an “alarm signal” in the body.
When chronically elevated, it can drive:
• Neuroinflammation
• Microglial overactivation
• Amyloid aggregation
• Blood-brain barrier disruption
All of which are associated with the progression of Alzheimer’s disease.
I look at galectin-3 as part of a bigger picture: brain inflammation, immune activation, toxin load, and metabolic dysfunction.
Here are some of the ways I like to lower galectin-3 and calm neuroinflammation:
✔️ Reducing systemic inflammation through targeted nutrition
✔️ Supporting gut health (since galectin-3 is heavily influenced by immune signaling from the gut)
✔️ Addressing mold and environmental toxin exposure
✔️ Optimizing metabolic markers like insulin resistance
✔️ Using evidence-informed, anti-inflammatory and immune-modulating supplements
✔️ Supporting detoxification pathways and mitochondrial function
Lowering galectin-3 isn’t about suppressing the immune system — it’s about restoring balance so the brain isn’t stuck in chronic inflammatory mode.
Because protecting cognitive function starts years — even decades — before symptoms appear.
