Come for a pov video of the ride Galactica Alton Towers. I use my gopro 12 black to record this ride. I have put the links for Alton Towers website, merlin's website as they run all the big theme parks in England ( thrope park, LEGOLAND and Chessington World Of Adventures) and gopro website below. I also will put the address down below of chessington world of adventures.
Galactica (formerly called Air) is a steel flying roller coaster located at Alton Towers in Alton, Staffordshire, England, UK. It was built by Bolliger & Mabillard and situated in the Forbidden Valley area, in close proximity to Nemesis. The ride was originally scheduled to open in 1998, but due to the complex features of the ride, it was delayed to 2002.[1] Opening instead in 1998 was Oblivion. Before its official name was released, Air was codenamed SW5 (Secret Weapon 5).
For the 2016 season, the name was changed from Air to Galactica as virtual reality headsets were added to the ride. These only lasted until 2018, however.
The entrance plaza to Air
The idea for Air came to fruition after many years of planning, and construction started towards the beginning of the 2001 season. Advertisements for the ride were placed around Alton Towers towards the end of that year. In early 2002, testing began on one of the world's most technologically advanced rides ever made, and the ride opened on 16 March 2002 at a cost of £12 million.
Air opened as the first prototype flying roller coaster designed by Swiss manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard.
Early difficulties with unreliability were reduced towards the end of the first year, and problems are now rare.[2]
In July 2015, Alton Towers submitted plans to enhance the ride's theming and station. On 12 January 2016 it was announced that Air would be renamed Galactica. As part of the change, the ride received virtual reality headsets in which guests experience a space-themed film. The building that housed the former Air gift shop became the Rollercoaster Restaurant. The ride reopened as Galactica on 24 March 2016.
For the 2018 season, the virtual reality headsets were removed from all but the back three rows of the train. On 17 March 2019, Alton Towers confirmed that the virtual reality headsets would be gone completely for 2019, in response to guest feedback and the increased queue times.[3]

I use My DJI Osmo Action 6 to record this ride but forgot to put it in night mode but i have other video of the same ride but with different setting on the camera to see which one come out better. I have put the links for DJI And Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach.
this ride was built 1928 in France and was open to the public in 1938 and visitors return year after year to enjoy the thundering ride they remember as children. it has a single pull-up and, once the train has left the top, it travels under gravity until it arrives back at the station – thrilling every passenger on the way. 3 trains, each carrying up to 30 people, can be used on the track at one time. A seated operator controls the brakes at the rear of the first carriage on each train. Unusually, there are no brakes fitted to the track at all.
Roller Coaster is a wooden side friction roller coaster currently located at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England, UK.
Prior to opening at Great Yarmouth, the Roller Coaster operated at the Exposition Coloniale Internationale in Paris. It was transported to Britain by steamship.[1]

The ride was built in 1993 and reused the platforms from Rock n Roll a Schwarzkopf Monster 3, which was badly damaged by a fire in 1989.[1][2] The ride travelled until 2003 and was then sold to Ludewigt for the 2004 season who only operated the ride at Oldenburg Kramermarkt until 2009.[3][4][5][6]
The ride was then in storage until 2014 when the ride was sold to UK showman James Mellors who operated the ride at Global Village Dubai, Fantasy Island in the UK and Nottingham Goose Fair in 2017 and 2018. At the beginning of the 2022 season, the ride had its control system upgraded by Amusement Technical so that it was able to run an automatic cycle rather than manual only which resulted in a long period of downtime.
At the end of the 2024 season the ride was removed from the park while it underwent a full refurbishment and was rethemed from Magic to Time Machine.[7] The ride was delivered back to the park in the evening on 12 July 2025.[8][9] It was due to open on 24 July,[10] however opening was delayed until 2 August due to technical issues. In addition to operating at Fantasy Island, the ride also travels on the UK travelling circuit.

I have put the links for Alton Towers website, merlins website as they run all the big theme parks in England ( thrope park, LEGOLAND and Chessington World Of Adventures) and DJI website below. I also will put the address down below of chessington world of adventures.
The Smiler is a steel roller coaster located at Alton Towers in Alton, Staffordshire, England, UK. The attraction was manufactured by Gerstlauer and is a prototype Infinity Coaster.[2] The ride is positioned where the Black Hole was formerly located, on the opposite side of Oblivion. It is the first roller coaster to feature fourteen inversions, and still holds the inversion world record today.
Due to teething problems, the coaster did not open on the planned date of 23 May 2013. The ride eventually opened a week later on 31 May.
Plans were submitted for SW7 in late December 2011.[3] Documents were later revealed showing that it was a custom Gerstlauer Infinity Coaster. Planning permission was granted on 15 March 2012, despite opposition from both Alton and Farley Parish councils.
The structure that previously housed the Black Hole was dismantled in April.[4] Ride hardware started arriving in September and vertical construction began on 7 December.[5]
Merlin Entertainments filed a trademark for the name The Smiler in November 2012. In January 2013, an advertising and social media campaign was launched that saw the smiling face logo projected on to various buildings and photographs circulated of the logo spray-painted on the side of sheep. On 20 January, posters appeared in London with The Smiler, and this name was confirmed via a newspaper article the following day.[6]
The ride was originally scheduled to open for the start of the season on 16 March 2013, however due to the ride falling behind schedule the opening was pushed back to May.
The rides track was completed in April 2013 and a new opening date of 23 May was announced.[7] However, the day before the planned opening, Alton Towers announced that due to unforeseen teething problems, the opening had been pushed back again. The Smiler finally opened to the public on 31 May 2013.[5]
